History of Slaughter Sinema

The original Slaughter Sinema house made its debut at Halloween Horror Nights 28 in 2018. The house became a fan favorite, with its fictional films spawning many references and callbacks in future houses, including “Cult of the Beast Baby.” Another one of the films in the house, “Attack of the Swamp Yeti,” has since inspired two HHN houses: Yeti: Terror of the Yukon at HHN 29 and Yeti: Campground Kills at HHN 32. Additionally, a swamp yeti was included in the Hellblock Horror house at HHN 31.

“Pumpkin Gutz!,” also featured in the original Slaughter Sinema house, would introduce fans to Mr. Carver’s Pumpkin Patch, which later became a setting for fan favorite house, Wicked Growth: Realm of the Pumpkin at HHN 30. This house was the first introduction for the Pumpkin Lord and Lil’ Boo, both of whom returned for the Horrors of Halloween scare zone the following year.

The town of Carey, Ohio is home to the Carey Drive-in setting for Slaughter Sinema along with many other HHN stories. Per Universal Orlando’s official announcement, in Slaughter Sinema 2, guests will return to Carey Drive-in for a b-movie horror marathon that includes “creature features, grindhouse gore, spaghetti westerns, and more.”

Halloween Horror Nights 2024 at Universal Orlando Resort will begin earlier than ever, with the event running from August 30 through November 3. Construction on the Halloween Horror Nights houses is well under way, and Universal Orlando Resort has begun to give fans teasers for the event through their social media channels. The Halloween season may be months away, but we’ve already spotted a number of HHN33 merchandise items at Universal Orlando. This year’s first fan-made speculation map has hinted at possible houses themed to “Ghostbusters” and “A Quite Place.” Blumhouse has also hinted at a return to HHN this year.
