In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Iger states that he has already seen the sequel to Disney’s 2016 hit “Moana” and that the film is “very exciting.” Iger made the surprise announcement of “Moana 2” this past February.

“We learned in the first film just what an unbelievable adventurer Moana is,” Iger told GMA, “and I can only say that she is going to prove that yet again to us.”

He also talked about how the new film will show audiences Moana’s relationship with her younger sister, claiming that she is “kind of a breakout star of the film to come in many ways.”

In an animated scene from Moana 2, a young girl in a red and white dress swings on a boat's side while a large man with tattoos and a pig smile in the background. This delightful preview, shared during D23, features Auli'i Cravalho reprising her beloved role.

“Moana 2” is set three years after the original film. Moana sets out with Maui and a crew of “unlikely seafarers” to search for people beyond Motonui. It will be in theaters on November 27, 2024. A new trailer and poster were revealed for the film at the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on August 9.

Iger also briefly teased a follow-up to the record-breaking “Inside Out 2,” which recently became the highest-grossing animated film of all time. When asked whether fans could expect “Inside Out 3,” Iger briefly stated that he “would love” to see that film get made, but did not comment further.

Pixar has indicated they may make more sequels in the future after years of struggle with original films.

Iger said, “Every time I’ve been to this event […] I leave with a sense of incredible pride, but actually, a real sense of joy seeing what impact we’ve had on people all over the world, and to see it up close, It’s an extraordinary feeling.”

He further teased that “many” surprises will be announced at the event this year.
