Hello Kitty Shop and UNI VRS have both closed at Universal Studios Florida. While it has not been confirmed, these closures are likely permanent.
Hello Kitty Shop and UNI VRS Close
A little more than one year after opening, UNI VRS has closed at Universal Studios Florida. When open, the store features special apparel from various Universal properties such as Woody Woodpecker, Felix the Cat, “Jurassic World“, and more.
As guests approach the front door, they will be greeted by a blue sign that says the following:
Please pardon our dust as we create an exciting new experience.
UNI VRS opened in the summer of 2023, replacing the Silver Screen store. Though Universal hasn’t confirmed that the store is permanently closed, rumors and the “new experience” phrasing on the sign on the door, indicate that the location will not be reopening in its current state.
Right next door, Hello Kitty Shop is also closed, and the future of the store is unknown. In October of 2023, themed awnings were replaced by generic blue ones that still hang above the entrance and windows of the store.
On the front door, guests will find the same notice that is found at UNI VRS.
While this closure could spell the end for UNI VRS and Hello Kitty Shop at Universal Studios Florida, similarly themed locations are popping up at other Universal properties around the world. In July a new UNI VRS store opened in Universal Studios Japan. Meanwhile, the Hello Kitty cafe and Sanrio shop announced this summer, are opening on Friday, September 6 at CityWalk in Universal Studios Hollywood.
