A reopening date for the regular Haunted Mansion attraction has been posted to the Disneyland website.
Regular Haunted Mansion Reopening
The attraction is currently operating as Haunted Mansion Holiday through January 6, 2025. The regular Haunted Mansion hasn’t been in operation since August 2023 when it closed to change to the holiday version for 2023. After the holiday season, the attraction closed for the start of the refurbishment. The website now says the ride will reopen on January 18, 2025.
When Haunted Mansion Holiday opened in July 2024, it used a virtual queue only as the regular queue was still under construction.
Rumors have been stirring since the attraction’s closure that allege a few major changes to the regular attraction. The hanging corpse is said to be replaced by a projection on the tarp used for Haunted Mansion Holiday. Usually, the tarp is temporary to allow for a different effect in the Stretching Room for the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay.
Other rumors say that the Hitchhiking Ghost effect at the end of the ride will be updated to use the same CGI effect as Walt Disney World’s Mansion.
Disney has not made an announcement regarding the reopening date, but the information is on the official calendar. Mistakes have been made with the calendar in the past, but the updates were made within the last 24 hours.
Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion
Since then, the Haunted Mansion has gotten a new outdoor queue and ADA elevator as part of the grounds expansion. The ADA elevator and new access hallway provide a new exit for guests in mobility devices, and the new outdoor queue allows guests in mobility devices to use the queue and regular attraction entrance.
The original outdoor queue was completely demolished, though favorites like the pet cemetary have returned on the new Mansion grounds along with new gardens.
The new gift shop, Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond, is set to open this winter (which may or may not be before the regular attraction comes back). Signage was installed on the gift shop earlier this week. The backstory for the new gift shop declares the building was once a carriage house that was transformed into space for Madame Leota.
