In honor of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, Sleeping Beauty Castle is set to receive a new look.
Disney said in a press release that “brilliant, colorful décor will adorn the entire resort, including an elegant medallion on Sleeping Beauty Castle.”
The concept art shows banners on the lampposts leading to the castle in magenta with golden trim. At the top of each is a small triangular banner in deep blue dotted with golden stars.
A small, round 70 medallion sits upon each. The golden 70 sits atop a background of ornate floral designs in shades of pink, blue, purple, and orange. Above are golden horns reminiscent of the ones used in the park’s grand opening ceremony, which were played to herald the first children ever across the drawbridge. A spiral of stars goes up the top of the lamp.
On the castle over the gate is a much larger version of the medallion. It shares the same base design as the little ones but is framed by pink and blue filigree. Bunting is strung on either side with many layers of colorful “fabric.”
The 70th anniversary celebrations kick off on May 16, 2025, and are set to run through summer 2026. Special entertainment and more will take place across the resort. The theme is “Celebrate Happy” and a new theme song of the same name will play. Special merchandise will be available.
At Disneyland park, the Paint the Night nighttime parade will return. Walt Disney – A Magical Life will debut at the Main Street Opera House Theater featuring an animatronic of Walt Disney. Mickey & friends will have special celebratory costumes and will also star in a new cavalcade — Mickey and Friends Celebrate Happy! The Wondrous Journeys fireworks spectacular will also return.
At Disney California Adventure, the new World of Color Happiness will debut. The Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration parade will return.
