A woman was charged with aggravated elder abuse after authorities said she attacked her 68-year-old mother in a Walt Disney World hotel room, records show.
Drunk Woman Arrested After Attacking Mother in Disney World Hotel Room
As Christine Neil, 41, of North Carolina, was being taken to jail, she fought back and eventually got tasered, the arrest report said.
The dramatic arrest unfolded on October 15 at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, though it is not detailed whether the incident took place at Riverside or French Quarter. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office took more than three months to release the public record, which is why WDWNT is writing about it now.
The sheriff’s office received a call about Neil being drunk at the hotel. Neil was ordered to pack up and leave because Disney wanted her trespassed.
Neil’s mother, who was trying to calm her daughter down, packed up Neil’s belongings, the arrest report said.
A deputy overheard Neil’s mother yell, “Get your hands off me!” from inside the hotel room, the arrest report said.
The deputy hurried inside to help. Neil’s mother accused her daughter of pushing her into a wall. There was evidence: Neil’s mother had a bump on her head “the size of a small egg,” according to the arrest report.
“Yeah I did, take me to jail,” Neil replied, according to the arrest report.
The deputy handcuffed Neil.
“As I was attempting to walk Christine out to the car, she stopped standing and fell to the ground on her own. As I was attempting to help her up, she started to kick her legs around. I was worried she might kick Master Deputy Don Compton. After a minute of her resting, we again attempted to stand her up and walk her out to the car. She refused the walk on her own and went to the ground again,” Deputy Sybil Ford wrote in the arrest report. “While transporting Christine to (jail), she did not stop yelling at me and saying rude things about my family.”
The report does not detail what Neil allegedly said.
The deputy detailed the rest of the ride to Orange County Jail.
“Due to Christine spitting during her hate speech, I closed the window between her and I. This made her even more upset and she unbuckled her seatbelt and was attempting to unlock her door from the outside. I quickly rolled up the window and made sure my doors were locked,” the deputy wrote in the arrest report. “About 10 minutes later, Christine started to kick the cage and had her feet above her head. Due to the fear of injury, I stopped the patrol car in a turn lane and Christine quickly changed her behavior and moved to the driver side of the car and was telling me she’d stop. Attempting to be kind to her, I did not use a secondary restraint device to her legs and resumed the travel to (the jail.) Once I got to Wallace Road and Turkey Lake Road, Christine started to kick my window again and kick the door. I then felt that she might hurt herself or break the door to the patrol car. As I exited the car, I noticed she was now laying on her stomach and was holding her feet.”
The deputy put a leg restraint on Neil and then continued going to the jail. The deputy raised the alarm to a “code three,” the arrest report said.
The report said Neil was tasered by jail staff but did not provide more detail.
She was finally booked into jail.
Neil pleaded not guilty in November.
That same month, Neil’s mother said in a court filing she did not want to pursue criminal charges against her daughter.
Neil’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment for this story.
