During a screening of the recently-released “Captain America: Brave New World” at Disney Springs, guests were treated to a surprise visit from star Anthony Mackie.
Anthony Mackie Visits Disney Springs
In a post to the Disney Parks X (formerly Twitter) account, the company shared a short video clip of Anthony Mackie arriving unannounced to a screening of Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: Brave New World” at the AMC theater in Disney Springs. After a few moments of stunned silence, guests sitting in the theater started cheering and taking Mackie’s photograph. Mackie carried a bowl of popcorn down to the first row of the theater, where he spent a few moments interacting with the audience and thanking them for supporting the film.
“Captain America: Brave New World” is the fourth “Captain America” film released by Marvel Studios, but the first to feature Anthony Mackie as the titular hero. The film also stars Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres a.k.a. Falcon, while Harrison Ford replaces the late William Hurt as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Both Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time since their appearances in “The Incredible Hulk” from 2008. The cast also includes Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder, and Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph. The film is directed by Julius Onah.
The film released on February 14, and the AMC theater in Disney Springs hosted a special D23 Gold Member preview screening on February 12. AMC has also released images of an exclusive collapsible shield popcorn tub and a special gourmet popcorn flavor available now at most theaters while supplies last.
The celebrate the release of “Captain America: Brave New World,” Disney parks around the world have released specialty food and merchandise. Walt Disney World received new Captain America Crocs, a Loungefly mini backpack, and apparel. At Disneyland Resort, we reviewed all of the new Captain America-themed food items and photographed the new Captain America shield sipper. Finally, Disneyland Paris also released new food and shared a video of a special nighttime drone show celebrating the film’s premiere.

Oh man – we missed him by 2 days. Great movie – packed theater – all showings were sold out this weekend at the Springs. Lots of laughter and clapping throughout the movie. It’s a return to the early Marvel movies.
