Work on repairing the Amity Island or “Jaws” bathroom in Universal Studios Florida continues as the building still awaits new siding.
“Jaws” Bathroom Construction Continues

We previously reported that blue construction walls had been installed around the “Jaws” bathroom in Universal Studios Florida a little over a week ago. All of the construction walls are still in place, blocking guests from getting near the building.

All of the exterior siding on the bathroom has now been completely removed. The black waterproofing panels underneath what used to be wood siding are peeling near the bottom, and several chunks of material have already fallen off.

The shingles on the roof are still intact, though leaves and weeds still cover several of the corners. No significant progress seems to have been made near the old entrance, either. This side of the building used to be the main entrance with bathroom signs and an old “Village Circle Hall” on the gable. The nearby windows also appear to be covered by plywood.

This bathroom is one of the last remaining sections of Amity Island in Universal Studios Florida. The majority of the “Jaws” themed area was closed for the construction of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2012. The bathroom, however, retained its theming and is treasured as one of the few “Jaws” spaces left in the park. While the construction seems a bit more intensive, it is possible these walls have been installed so the bathroom can merely be refreshed, similar to what happened to the Mocambo restrooms.
Universal has not released any information on what kind of construction is taking place or how long the bathroom is expected to be closed. While this bathroom is closed, the next nearest restroom locations are inside Diagon Alley or around the corner of Men in Black: Alien Attack.
