More Beach Blocked During Latest Lakeshore Lodge Construction Update

More beach has been blocked, more walls have been installed, and another flying dumpster was spotted during our latest photo update of the construction on the new Lakeshore Lodge at Walt Disney World.

The construction site for the Lakeshore Lodge is bustling with several cranes by the lake, trees standing tall in the background, and a clear blue sky above.

Most of the construction on the new Lakeshore Lodge can be seen from across Bay Lake. Several tall cranes are still in place to move supplies. Since permits for the resort mention a 10-story hotel, it is likely that these cranes will remain in place for the near future.

Each of the tall buildings was originally built as a separate structure, and work began in early February to connect each structure together into one unified resort. However, the buildings are all still at different heights, with this one having just finished installing the roof of the second floor. The red scaffolding to the right of this building is all new.

Construction update: The site near the water is bustling with activity as a crane lifts materials. Scaffolding and partially built structures rise against a backdrop of trees and clear sky, while access to the beach is temporarily blocked for safety.

As we moved past, another flying dumpster was spotted being dangled from a crane. Several construction crew members were standing below to help lower the dumpster into the correct place.

Over in the next area, construction is not nearly as far along. Only short white beams have been installed in the earth so far, with many materials staged nearby for future use.

The construction site by a river, nestled near a forested area, buzzes with cranes and equipment as part of the latest construction update.

Yellow barriers still float in the lake surrounding all of the construction. These barriers will prevent any construction materials from accidentally floating too far away.

Moving to the most-completed section of building, this area has already completed the majority of the second floor and has prepped work on the third floor.

A partially built structure rises on the riverbank, surrounded by piles of sand and construction vehicles. A crane stands tall on the right under a clear sky, hinting at the transformation into a future Lakeshore Lodge.

Much of the metal scaffolding in this area is new, and many construction crew members were working on the walls as we passed.

Several trucks and construction vehicles are parked at this far end near the water. Construction crew members were walking on top of the third floor and near the crane on the right.

The bench area near the beach has now been blocked, leaving only the seating area near the fishing check-in building available for Fort Wilderness guests to enjoy. A majority of the land to the right is piled with uneven dirt.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is a new Disney Vacation Club resort currently under construction near Disney’s Fort Wilderness. The lodge replaces the previously-announced Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge concept that was announced back in 2018. Disney bulldozed the space formerly home to the old River Country water park and was just starting construction when the project was paused for COVID-19. With no new updates regarding the space, many assumed the whole project had been cancelled.

Disney began extending construction permits for the land in 2023, giving guests a hint that the project was not completely dead. Active construction returned to the area in late 2024, with Disney formally announcing the new Disney Lakeshore Lodge soon after. The concept has been described in similar language to the old Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge project, but no new images or concept art of of Disney Lakeshore Lodge has been provided yet.

As construction progresses, we may start to see hints of the lodge’s rumored massive new pool. According to new rumors, Disney Lakeshore Lodge will be home to a large feature pool with a full lazy river, the second resort to receive one since Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is expected to open sometime in 2027, though no exact details or an opening date have been announced.
