The structures of Disney Lakeshore Lodge at Walt Disney World are now being connected into one building.

There are no less than six cranes present at the resort construction site, which is along Bay Lake next to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

More of the resort’s structures have gained second floors. On Friday, several crew members were on a second floor, among new walls and columns. Several large green circle elements were staged at the construction site.

In some areas, the walls are now reaching the height of a third floor. Disney has not revealed how tall Disney Lakeshore Lodge will be. Concrete forms encase some of the walls and columns in progress. Columns of rebar will later be filled in with concrete.

Work on Disney Lakeshore Lodge began with multiple base structures. It looks like crews are now connecting the first of these structures to another.

The structure closest to the water has been the tallest throughout construction. Some dirt piles have been moved or flattened from this area in the past few weeks.

This patch of land was once home to the River Country water park. It closed permanently in 2001, although Disney didn’t announce its official closure until three years later. The park sat mostly untouched for 20 years. In 2018, Disney announced a new Disney Vacation Club resort called Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge. They demolished River Country to make way for the new resort, but work stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rumors that the resort was canceled began in 2020. There was no news about the site until Disney began filing for extensions of Reflections — Disney Lakeside Lodge construction permits. In November 2024, construction resumed and Disney announced a new Disney Vacation Club resort concept, Disney Lakeshore Lodge, to replace Reflections.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” Though the concept sounds similar to Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge, Disney has not released any artwork for the new resort.
