Crow’s Nest Finally Reopens at Swiss Family Treehouse in Magic Kingdom

As the final areas of the Swiss Family Treehouse reopen, the crow’s nest section is once again available for guests to visit in Magic Kingdom Park.

The Swiss Family Treehouse in Adventureland closed on November 18, 2024, for what was supposed to be a month-long refurbishment. Most areas of the treehouse were covered in green scrims so guests could not see the work taking place. After one month, however, the treehouse failed to reopen and remained closed until December 23.

A large treehouse reminiscent of the Swiss Family Treehouse is surrounded by lush greenery, with a whimsical rope bridge leading to it. The wooden structure boasts multiple levels and balconies, offering a crow's nest view over the magical landscape.

When the Swiss Family Treehouse reopened in December, the construction work was still not complete. Several areas of the walkthrough location, including the upstairs crow’s nest, were still closed off or wrapped in scrims. The treehouse’s page on the official Walt Disney World website also still has a construction notice, even though the posted end date has not been updated from December 20, 2024.

The wooden rails on either side of the walkways have been coated in a fresh layer of paint, and the ropes across the rail are clean.

A piece of diamond plate metal is affixed to a wooden deck near a rope railing structure, reminiscent of the adventurous spirit found in the Swiss Family Treehouse.

A new metal plate has been added to the floor near the corner, perhaps to keep guests from tripping on the edge of the walkway.

Rope netting and bamboo poles create a barrier near the wooden stairs, echoing the adventurous spirit of a crow's nest in an outdoor setting. The netted railings hint at explorations reminiscent of the Swiss Family Treehouse.

This staircase is where guests previously had to turn around. While the crow’s nest was still under refurbishment, a large wooden board was covering the entire walkway.

Amid the lush foliage, guests strolling through Magic Kingdom catch glimpses of castle spires towering above. As they wander the pathways near attractions like the Swiss Family Treehouse, they're enveloped in enchantment under a clear blue sky.

The upstairs room of the Swiss Family Treehouse offers some of the best views of Magic Kingdom through the treetops. We could see the turrets of Cinderella Castle, the tip of Space Mountain, and the dome over TRON Lightcycle / Run peeking over the roofs in Adventureland.

Once guests reach the top of the staircase, they can once again approach the actual crow’s nest room. Like many of the other refurbished sections, everything inside has been refreshed or repainted.

A decorative wooden sign reads: "The Crow's Nest—Swiss Family Treehouse. Fritz, Ernst, Francis. Their room completed on the 1st anniversary of our deliverance, July 17, 1805." Hanging from a thatched roof in the heart of Magic Kingdom.

The sign labeling the room is now brightly colored once again. The room belongs to the family’s three sons: Fritz, Ernst, and Francis. The plaque mentions that the room was completed for the first anniversary of the family’s deliverance on July 17, 1805.

The interior of the cluttered bamboo hut feels like a cozy corner of the Swiss Family Treehouse, adorned with a hammock, lanterns, books, and a fan scattered among various household items.

Inside the room, all of the props appear to be in the same places as they were prior to the refurbishment. A rope hammock hangs from the roof and a wooden desk is placed on the right. Various props including books, clothes, and fake food are strewn around the space. The lamp hanging from the center beam was also lit.

With the reopening of the crow’s nest, most of the work on the Swiss Family Treehouse is now complete. However, one or two areas around the trees still have green construction scrims.
