Marvel Announcing ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Cast With Hours-Long Livestream of Chairs

Marvel Studios revealed the cast of “Avengers: Doomsday” via an hours-long livestream across social media.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Cast

A row of director's chairs, with the closest labeled "Paul Rudd," are set up on a dimly lit stage.

Every 10-15 minutes, the video panned to a new director’s chair with an actor’s name printed on the back. The following actors were revealed:

  • Chris Hemsworth (Thor)
  • Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm / Invisible Woman)
  • Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson / Captain America)
  • Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier)
  • Letitia Wright (Shuri / Black Panther)
  • Paul Rudd (Scott Lang / Ant-Man)
  • Wyatt Russell (John Walker / U.S. Agent)
  • Tenoch Huerta Mejía (Namor)
  • Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm / The Thing)
  • Simu Liu (Shang-Chi)
  • Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova / Black Widow)
  • Kelsey Grammer (Hank McCoy / Beast)
  • Lewis Pullman (Bob Reynolds / Sentry)
  • Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres / Falcon)
  • Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm / Human Torch)
  • David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian)
  • Winston Duke (M’Baku)
  • Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Star / Ghost)
  • Tom Hiddleston (Loki)
  • Patrick Stewart (Professor X)
  • Ian McKellen (Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto)
  • Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler)
  • Rebecca Romijn (Raven Darkhölme / Mystique)
  • James Marsden (Scott Summers / Cyclops)
  • Channing Tatum (Remy LeBeau / Gambit)
  • Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic)
  • Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom)

We’ve listed the actors with their known characters, but given the multiverse nature of recent Marvel Cinematic Universe stories, it’s always possible the actors could take on different roles. We already knew Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU after Tony Stark / Iron Man died in “Avengers: Endgame.” This Time, Downey Jr. will play Doctor Doom, though there is a connection between Doom and Iron Man.

Chris Evans will also return to the MCU in some capacity for “Avengers: Doomsday” after seemingly retiring from the role of Steve Rogers / Captain America. After living out a life in the past, Rogers gave up the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson. Evans made a cameo in “Deadpool & Wolverine” as Johnny Storm from Fox’s “Fantastic Four” films. We don’t know which character, if either, he will portray or what universe the character will be from. Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as Agent Peggy Carter but again, we don’t know if she will be from the MCU’s main universe (Earth-616) or an alternate universe.

“Avengers: Doomsday” is the fifth Avengers film, the first since the landmark “Avengers: Endgame” (2019). It was originally titled “Avengers: Kang Dynasty,” but Marvel shifted their story plans after Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors was convicted of assault. Doctor Doom will replace Kang as the villain.

The Russo Brothers are directing “Avengers: Doomsday” and its sequel, “Avengers: Secret Wars.” “Doomsday” will be in theaters on May 1, 2026, followed by “Secret Wars” on May 7, 2027.

The films are part of the MCU’s Phase Six, which begins with “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” (July 25, 2025) and includes an untitled fourth “Spider-Man” film (July 31, 2026). Releasing on May 2 of this year, “Thunderbolts*” will mark the end of Phase Five.
