Country Bear Musical Jamboree, which opened to guests last summer, ranks higher than the original show according to Guest Satisfaction (GSAT) surveys at Magic Kingdom.
Country Bear Musical Jamboree Scores High with Guests
The Country Bear Musical Jamboree debuted in July 2024 at Magic Kingdom. The show provides a fresh take with a reimagining of the beloved Country Bear Jamboree. The original attraction closed in January 2024 with no final show due to technical difficulties.
The new show was originally announced at Destination D23 2023. Inspired by the musical reviews of Nashville, the Country Bear Musical Jamboree reimagines classic Disney songs in “different genres of country music.”
A “Toy Story” Woody’s Roundup marionette show was in development to replace Country Bear Jamboree while former CEO Bob Chapek led the Disney Parks division, but this idea was eventually scrapped.
The characters from the original show that debuted in 1971 also appear in the new version, including Henry, Big Al, Trixie, and others. The only character change was Liver Lips McGrowl, who was renamed to “Romeo McGrowl.”
Disney considers the new show “a big success,” as the Guest Satisfaction surveys at Magic Kingdom rank the Country Bear Musical Jamboree at #6 at the park overall. The original show was ranked at #27.
Guests can listen to the music from the Country Bear Musical Jamboree wherever and whenever they like, as the soundtrack has been made available on Spotify and Apple Music. Nine of the 10 songs are available on the streaming services, with Big Al’s rendition of “Remember Me” from the film “Coco” the only one missing.
In February, the voices of Sammy and Henry paid a visit to the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, and earlier this month, the bears in the show received a refresh with a rebrushing and some getting new fur.
The Country Bear Jamboree was an opening day attraction in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. The attraction featured various audio-animatronic bears singing heartfelt and humorous songs such as “How Long Will My Baby Be Gone,” “Blood on the Saddle,” and “The Ballad of Davy Crockett.” Read the Complete History of the Country Bear Jamboree.
