The Mara Jade Legacy Lightsaber set is now available for purchase online from the Disney Store. The set is limited edition, with just 3,500 units for sale across the Disney Store, Disneyland, and Walt Disney World.
According to Cast Members at Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort and the Disney Store together received approximately 1,700 sets. There is a purchase limit online of two (2) per guest.
Mara Jade Lightsaber Set – $325
The set includes Mara’s lightsaber hilt, a numbered certificate, and a variant cover Legends comic book in a collector’s box. The comic book is issue #1 of “Star Wars: Mara Jade – By The Emperor’s Hand” with a variant cover featuring purple light around Mara as she poses with her lightsaber. The certificate features the quote:
It’s not about the legacy you leave, it’s about the life you live.
Mara Jade
The lightsaber is inspired by Mara Jade’s first lightsaber, which originated from promotional artwork but was later made canon. She created the saber when she was an Emperor’s Hand. The hilt is mostly silver with a black ring near the emitter. It illuminates a blade (sold separately) purple. Mara Jade also wielded Anakin Skywalker’s blue lightsaber.
The wooden collector’s box is gray with weathering. Sliding doors feature half of the Empire’s logo and half of the New Jedi Order logo. “Legends” is in Aurebesh on a yellow stripe.
This is the first Legacy Lightsaber inspired by a character who only appeared in Star Wars Legends (the stories dubbed non-canonical when Disney acquired the franchise). Mara Jade first appeared in Timothy Zahn’s 1991 novel “Heir to the Empire.” Though originally sent to kill Luke Skywalker, she ended up falling in love with and marrying him.
Though Mara Jade is no longer a canonical character, there have been rumors that she could return in a “Star Wars” movie or series, especially following the reintroduction of Thrawn, who was also introduced in “Heir to the Empire.”
The Mara Jade Legacy Lightsaber will also be available at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park, and is available now in Tatooine Traders at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
