As construction continues on the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean tavern and refreshing the Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, the planters outside the building have now been removed and a few of the columns have been damaged.

Pirates of the Caribbean Construction Update

In our latest construction update for Pirates of the Caribbean at Magic Kingdom, one of the most noticeable changes is the removal of the rolling planters from the left side of the building.

The entryway, with its wooden pergola and red pavement, evokes the adventure of "Pirates of the Caribbean." Roped off with no entry signs for safety due to damaged columns, two people stroll past on the left side.

During our last construction update, this small portico area to the left of the main queue was surrounded on all sides by rolling planters filled with tall shrubs.

A beige and brown outdoor structure with a wooden pergola and hanging lanterns evokes the adventurous spirit of Pirates of the Caribbean. Roped off, it blends seamlessly into the lush greenery reminiscent of Magic Kingdom's enchanting landscapes.

The shrubs are now all gone, though the area is still roped off from guests using some stanchions placed around the columns.

A sectioned outdoor pathway reminiscent of the Magic Kingdom features a patterned gray concrete area and surrounding red pavement, separated by rope barriers. Nearby stands a building with iconic columns, evoking the adventurous spirit of Pirates of the Caribbean.

When the shrubs were present, the stones in this section were covered by a black scrim laid on the ground. The pavement in this section now appears to be new, as it is much cleaner and has more vivid colors than the previous pavement, though it could also have received a detailed refresh.

Moving around to the attraction’s main entrance, walls still surround the right side of the queue near what will become the Pirates of the Caribbean tavern. The tavern is taking up the space previously occupied by the Pirates League makeover experience.

A worn column with visible damage stands on a wet stone floor near closed doors, reminiscent of the Pirates of the Caribbean atmosphere. A mobility scooter is partially visible to the right, as if parked in its own Magic Kingdom adventure.

A few of the columns closest to the construction walls have been damaged. This column to the left of the Pirates League doors has been chipped in several places, and the wood around the base has been scuffed.

A concrete column, reminiscent of the Pirates of the Caribbean décor, with a burlap cloth partially wrapped around its base, evokes a sense of adventure and mystery.

A tan piece of scrim material has been wrapped around the base of the column and attached on the back side. It is possible some large construction materials or tools were carried past this column, causing it to be damaged.

Entrance to a themed attraction in Magic Kingdom with a decorative facade, lanterns, and a covered archway. A red sign reads "JOIN THE CREW," reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean, while chipped columns add character. A small seating area is partially visible.

The area to the right of the Pirates League doors is still completely blocked with brown construction walls. The old Pirates League signage is still present.

The indoor scene features two hanging lanterns casting a warm glow over unfinished ceiling beams, reminiscent of the rustic charm in Pirates of the Caribbean. A dark partition divides the room, while a partially visible sign with red lettering adds mystery to the scene.

Above the walls, some of the progress on the new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge is still visible. Plywood panels have now been attached to the inside of the metal beams that were installed a few weeks ago. A stepladder is sitting on this side of the new wall.

A weathered wooden post, reminiscent of the Pirates of the Caribbean aesthetic, stands firmly in a beige concrete base on a red-tiled surface.

More of the columns to the side of the construction walls have also been damaged. The concrete near the base of this smaller wood column is also chipped and scratched in several places. On one side, the wood closest to the concrete base has been completely removed, leaving a jagged edge behind.

Construction walls are set up in a theme park area reminiscent of the Magic Kingdom, complete with a tower, palm trees, and a red-roofed building. People walk nearby under a clear blue sky, as if searching for adventure on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

The construction walls to the right extend all the way beyond the facade of the building and into the main walkway by the attraction. Guests can still use the path on the right to get into the nearby restrooms.

The wooden pavilion roof, reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean with its visible beams and hanging lantern, stands tall. Decorative columns add charm, set against a clear blue sky.

Finally, we noticed that the large hanging sign separating Adventureland from Frontierland was removed from this arch back in January. The sign is still missing, likely so construction vehicles can enter and exit this area without accidentally hitting it.

The new Pirates of the Caribbean tavern is expected to open sometime in late 2025, but no exact date has been announced yet. It is expected that the refurbishment on the Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar will also be finished by the time the new tavern opens.
