Construction Walls Down From Pirates of the Caribbean Gift Shop, Pirates League Sign Still There

Construction walls have come down from Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, the Pirates of the Caribbean gift shop in Magic Kingdom. The shop has been undergoing refurbishment for almost a year, in part to prepare for the new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge still under construction.

Entrance to "The Pirates League," reminiscent of *Pirates of the Caribbean*, adorned with tropical plants and palm trees. A quaint house with a red-tiled roof stands in the background under the clear blue sky, close to a bustling gift shop brimming with treasures.

The lounge is taking over the former Pirates League space. This makeover experience closed in 2020. Disney filed a permit to refurbish the Pirates League sign, but it still remains intact outside Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar.

The walls around the planter housing the sign were recently painted. There are still wet paint signs on the ground.

The covered outdoor area, reminiscent of the Pirates of the Caribbean ambiance, features a ceiling with pendant lights, tiled walls, and a dark doorway. A patterned wall and a semicircular tiled feature add to its enchanting allure.

There are still walls up around the future lounge. Although the former entrance to The Pirates League is still much the same as it was before, including a tattered sail sign hanging from the ceiling.

A pendant light hangs from the ceiling near an unfinished wall with exposed metal studs and beams, evoking a rustic vibe reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean. The walls, painted in neutral tones, could easily belong to a themed gift shop on an adventurous quest.

Behind the construction walls is the same steel framework we saw a few days ago.

Though the rest of the construction walls are gone, there are still signs that work isn’t done. The bottom of this roof support seems to be missing chunks of wood, and the base could be repainted.

Other than new props, the refurbishment work was mostly surface-level, like repainting.

The store interior echoes a Pirates of the Caribbean vibe with its arched doorway and ceiling fan. Racks display merchandise like a themed gift shop, while hallways illuminated by wall-mounted lanterns lead to various sections reminiscent of the adventurous Pirates League.

The shop has remained open as work went on in phases. Last year, new checkout counters were unveiled.

The room, reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean, boasts warm-toned walls adorned with vintage trunks, wooden furniture, a clock, and hanging lanterns. A small bell dangles from above, evoking the charm of an old-world gift shop.

These crates and props were new additions earlier this week.

Step into a gift shop where a vintage-style map nods to Pirates of the Caribbean, with medieval-themed apparel and merchandise lining the shelves. Wooden barrels dot the floor, adding to the nautical ambiance that evokes adventure and intrigue.

It’s possible some props won’t return, leaving more space to maneuver through the store. The Emporium is undergoing a refurbishment that opens up the space.

In a corner reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean, a brick-patterned floor strip and red-tinted stone tiles contrast against construction walls. Two wooden barrels stand near a window with metal bars, where a glimpse of a skeleton decoration adds intrigue.

There are various small treasure chests, a telescope, and other items above the merchandise shelves. As of now, all the props seem pretty generic, but it’s possible these or other items will be connected to the story of the new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge.

The shelving resembles repurposed pieces of a ship, including a set of glowing red windows.

Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar offers Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise and generic pirate merchandise.

A cozy, warmly lit pirates tavern with patrons sitting and chatting. Chandeliers, framed paintings, and a shelf with bottles evoke a relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of Pirates of the Caribbean tales.

The pirates’ tavern will “welcome pirates of all ages with a sea-worthy selection of grogs and grub, and strike me colors, there may be more than a few mysterious and magical surprises in store!”

With the opening of the tavern, the Audio-Animatronic Barker Bird, a.k.a. Peg-Leg Pete, will return. The bird invited guests to ride Pirates of the Caribbean from outside the attraction from 1973 to 2006.

In early March, Disney shared a look at the construction of the tavern, which is set to open in late 2025.
