REVIEW: All New and Returning Treats for Butterbeer Season 2025 at Universal Orlando Resort

Jamie Rowland

Universal Orlando Resort is celebrating Butterbeer Season 2025 in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Butterbeer (served cold, frozen , or hot) is available year-round in the Wizarding World, but for a limited time, new and returning seasonal treats are here for the celebration.

NEW Butterbeer Cream Puff -$6.99

Located at the Leaky Cauldron and the Three Broomsticks

The filling of the cream puff is easily the best part of the snack. It is soft and has a great Butterbeer flavor. The pastry, on the other hand, was tough and difficult to chew. It didn’t taste bad, but we would not go out of our way to order it again.

Butterbeer Gummies – $29.99

Located at Honeydukes and Sugarplum’s Sweetshop

The best part about this is the souvenir cart they come in. We first reviewed the cart last year when it debuted in the park. Unfortunately, the gummy candies are not good. Other than a dry sweetness, these are flavorless and barely recognizable as a gummy. We do not recommend these.

Butterbeer Fudge – $5.50

Located at Honeydukes and Sugarplum’s Sweetshop

The fudge tastes mostly of sugar and does not have much of a Butterbeer flavor nor does it have a themed design or anything to make it stand out. We would much rather grab a different fudge flavor.

Butterbeer Caramels – $5.50

Located at Honeydukes and Sugarplum’s Sweetshop

The caramel was slightly better than the fudge but was nothing special. It tasted like, well, caramel. Again, not much of a Butterbeer flavor was present in this candy. However, the caramel does take the edge over the fudge as it has a themed design on top.

Butterbeer Ice Lolly – $8.99

Located at the Hopping Pot and The Magic Neep

The ice lolly tasted a bit like a white chocolate shell. We couldn’t taste much Butterbeer at first. We let it soften some before eating more and the Butterbeer flavors were there in the second bite. The Butterbeer flavor was faint but built upon itself with each bite. It’s creamy and not overly sweet. It’s a delicious treat.

Butterbeer Hard-Packed Ice Cream – $6.99

Located at the Leaky Cauldron and the Three Broomsticks

This version of the ice cream is good, but as with some of the other treats, it did not have a super strong Butterbeer flavor. We felt it leaned more toward caramel. Even so, we enjoyed it.

Butterbeer Soft-Serve Ice Cream -$6.49

Located at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour

A hand holding a cup of soft-serve ice cream outside a shop with old-style buildings in the background on a sunny day, capturing the magic of Butterbeer season.

You can clearly tell that this ice cream is Butterbeer flavored, unlike some of the other desserts. It is cool and refreshing, perfect for a hot park day. The ice cream does have a very slight chemical aftertaste, but we rarely paused enough between bites to experience it for long.

One other note is that our price was $6.49 because we purchased the ice cream in a cup. The price goes up to $6.99 if purchased in a waffle cone.

Butterbeer Potted Cream -$6.99

Located at the Leaky Cauldron and the Three Broomsticks

This was one of our favorite Butterbeer treats. It tasted like butterscotch candy and was rich, decadent, and creamy. Highly recommended!

Non-Dairy Frozen Butterbeer – $8.99

In the midst of Butterbeer season, a hand cradles a foamy plastic cup in a themed restaurant. Guests chat merrily beneath the glow of hanging chandeliers, savoring the magical atmosphere.

We purchased this non-dairy version of a frozen Butterbeer at The Leaky Cauldron. The first thing we noticed is that the cream on the top is made slightly more thick than the original. We also felt that the Butterbeer flavor is not as strong in the non-dairy version than others. If you need a non-dairy version, we definitely recommend it!

Guests can also grab their favorite Butterbeer beverage in a new golden drink stein during the celebration. Butterbeer Season celebrates the famous “Harry Potter” drink this year from March 1 through May 31, 2025 at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.
