REVIEW: Limited Time King Cake Sugar Cookie Debuts at Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs

Gideon’s Bakehouse is letting the good times roll for a limited time in Disney Springs with the debut of a new “bonus cookie” — the King Cake Sugar Cookie.

A brick building with a winged statue atop the corner proudly displays signs for "Gideon's Bakehouse" and "Cookies, Cakes, Curiosities." Nearby, a palm tree sways against a clear blue sky, enticing visitors to explore delights like their famous Sugar Cookie.

This new cookie is available from today, Friday, March 7, through Sunday, March 9 only.

A display case at Gideon's Bakehouse in Disney Springs showcases a variety of cookies, including peanut butter and the exclusive King Cake Sugar Cookie, all presented on a dark countertop with elegant name plaques.

There is a purchase limit of two per person, and the cookie is also available at the East End Market location of Gideon’s Bakehouse in Orlando, Florida.

Just on appearances alone, this cookie looks and smells delicious. We love King Cake, beignets, and all things New Orleans, so the excitement for this bonus cookie was high. There is no baby inside, but the top of this sugar cookie is covered in “color-appropriate” sugar crystals for Mardi Gras.

When you take a bite, you immediately get hit with the smell of King Cake, thanks to the cream cheese praline frosting inside. While it is delicious, we think we’d prefer a slice of the real thing versus a sugar cookie take on the iconic sweet. The pralines stuffed inside elevate this cookie and are our favorite part. The sugar crystals are a little grainy, so if you’re not a fan of that texture, you might want to avoid this.

It’s a very good cookie, but you have to go into it with the mindset that it is a cookie and not actual King Cake. There are probably other cookies on the menu at Gideon’s that you might enjoy more.
