Stormalong Bay Pool Construction Progresses, Scaffolding Appears at Disney’s Yacht Club

Pool construction continues for Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, and scaffolding has been erected on the facade at the former as the hotels undergo refurbishments.

Stormalong Bay Under Construction

Since our last construction update, giant white bags of sand have appeared on the beach between Crescent Lake and the walkway circling the Yacht & Beach Club resort area.

Although these bags of fresh sand will likely be applied to the floor of the famed sand-bottomed pool and signal the conclusion of construction and the reopening of the pool and deck, it is also possible that the contents of the bags may be used to refresh sand on the beach itself.

At the construction site of a drained pool area, scaffolding supports activities among rocks and equipment. Workers are busy while nearby white structures and palm trees rise under a partly cloudy sky, reminiscent of Disney's Yacht Club ambiance.

Several bags have been moved inside an area of the pool and placed on an arrangement of metal piping.

Workers in bright safety clothing and helmets repair and maintain the empty, rocky outdoor pool area, with scaffolding, equipment, and tools scattered around.

Similar piping remains visible throughout the pool.

The construction crew continues to work on the cement pathways winding through the pool area. Since our last update, this middle section of the pathway shaded by trees has been filled with cement.

Construction on part of the pool deck does not appear to have progressed, as grids of rebar remain exposed.

The waterfront area, featuring a blue-roofed building reminiscent of Disney's Yacht Club, is adorned with palm trees and dotted with scaffolding and construction barriers near the shoreline.

We previously reported that the orange box Aquatech device was spotted close to one of the slides into the pool. As of this week, it has been relocated to the beach and hidden behind a row of rolling planters. Hurricane Hanna’s, visible in the photo above, remains closed during construction.

Scaffolding Goes Up on Resort Facade

Construction workers in safety gear stand near scaffolding at Disney's Yacht Club, where a building with striped awnings is under renovation. The area, featuring pool construction, is partially enclosed by white barriers, while plants and flowers bloom in the foreground.

Turning to the resort building itself at Yacht Club, scaffolding has now been constructed on one of the outer turrets, where the roofing has been removed and the waterproofing material is visible. A black chute connecting the upper levels of the scaffolding to the ground is also visible.

A large building undergoing maintenance, with scaffolding in place, resembles Disney's Yacht Club. The structure boasts a gray facade with white balconies and a steep roof. A sign reads "Please Pardon Our Appearance" as pool construction progresses.

The scaffolding continues around either corner, obstructing some windows overlooking the courtyard on the left and guest rooms overlooking Crescent Lake on the right.

A row of white-framed French doors with blue-taped outlines stands behind a white railing. Scaffolding hints at ongoing renovations on the building's beige siding, seamlessly blending into the nautical charm of Disney's Yacht Club.

Windows have been covered with plastic and painter’s tape, so we can expect a fresh coat of paint on the window frames.

White fencing has been replaced by construction walls erected around the area, which will serve to camouflage building materials, equipment, and general construction-related mess. Rolling planters have been arranged in front of the walls.

It should be noted that the Ale & Compass Restaurant is located inside, directly underneath this construction. We found that it is very noisy in the restaurant right now, but there is no construction warning on the website for the eatery, which may indicate that this stage of the construction will progress quickly.

Stormalong Bay will remain closed through June 2025, though no exact reopening date has been announced. In the meantime, guests at the resort are welcome to swim at the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove leisure pools.
