Construction continues to progress on the “Jaws” bathroom at Universal Studios Florida, with what appear to be new furring strips added to the facade.
“Jaws” Bathroom Construction
In our last update on the construction, we observed that the window frames and gutters had been removed and some plywood had been revealed on the facade.
Crews were present on the site during our visit, and orange furring strips had been added to the facade. The strips are not structural; rather, they are used to create a level surface and provide attachment points for sheathing, siding, or other finishes.
The vertical strips line the stone pillars that surround the bathroom. Additional plywood is now visible at the front where the former “Village Circle Hall” sign sat. Light fixtures also hang from the front of the building, and a light pole is visible over the construction walls.
On the side of the structure, additional plywood has been revealed, and more orange strips are visible just over the construction wall near the awning of the roof.
Several movie posters adorn the construction walls, including “8 Mile” and “The Fast and the Furious.”
Other movie posters that can be seen are “Liar Liar,” “Babe,” “The Nutty Professor,” and “Bruce Almighty.”
February marked the beginning of construction when the bathrooms were blocked off by construction walls. The building is one of the last elements of the former Amity Island area, which was once home to the “Jaws” attraction. In 2012, Amity Island closed to make way for Diagon Alley, which opened two years later.
