Entrance

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders moves through almost the entirety of How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. The entrance structure is a small building, with a Viking statue outside. The wait time and warning sign are on a post with a drawing of the ride vehicles. There’s a weather vane on top of the post featuring Toothless’ silhouette, and an element below indicates whether the wind is good or bad.

Queue Entrance
The entrance building is a workshop. Immediately on the right when entering is a workbench covered in drawings of Toothless. Diagrams hang on the wall above the bench.
These show various versions of a slingshot mechanism.
Next to the diagrams is a map of the waters around Berk that has been added onto with small pieces of paper.
The map features various types of dragons.
An old stove structure inspired by dragons has two pots hanging from it. A Viking shield is on the back wall. There’s an axe and some spears.
On the other side of the room is a large chair with Nordic carvings, a tapestry of Toothless, and stairs leading up to a loft.
Toothless’ tail prosthetic leans behind the stairs.
The tapestry depicts him wearing the prosthetic.
Outdoor Queue, Lockers, and Load
After the entrance building, guests split into the regular, Express, or single rider queues. The wait time is also displayed here.
The queue is mostly outdoors, with the roller-coaster crossing above guests. There are nets around the track to catch falling objects and provide a bit of shade. Short lampposts are on the ground.
Lanterns hang from chains criss-crossing the queue. There is a group of large rocks covered in moss and carvings.
The carvings feature Nordic designs, writing, and dragons.
The writing identifies the dragon species and some of its notable features, like the color-changing Hobblegrunts.
Closer to boarding is an easel displaying information about boarding the wing gliders.
Water fountain columns resemble dragons with their mouths wide open.
There’s a cart with more diagrams and wood tools. A small wooden model of one of the coaster cars hangs on the side of the cart.
A warning sign lets guests know the coaster “includes sudden and dramatic acceleration, climbing, tilting, dropping, and backwards motion.”
Guests with these conditions should not ride:
- Heart conditions or abnormal blood pressure
- Expectant mothers
- Medical sensitivity to fog effects
- Back, neck, or similar physical conditions
- Motion sickness or dizziness
- Recent surgery or other conditions that may be aggravated by this ride
Before boarding, guests must store loose articles in lockers.
There are props atop the lockers like baskets and barrels.

Guests may use photo validation or their ticket at the lockers. With photo validation, guests look at the camera to reserve or open their locker.

Next to the lockers is a test car with two seats. Some guests may not be able to ride due to the restrictive nature of the restraints. Team members are on hand to help guests try the test seats.
Guests then enter the boarding area.
They descend stairs, getting a good look at this tapestry showcasing Hiccup’s Wing Gliders. Then it’s time to board the dragon-inspired train.
Ride Experience
Guests hear Hiccup (and Toothless) talking to them, soon seeing them at the first launch. Hiccup is turning a wheel, which powers his invention. He almost forgets to put wings on the train — but Toothless doesn’t give him time to secure them and guests take off wingless across Berk.
Guests can hear Hiccup as they fly through the sky, dip towards the water, and avoid sheep. There’s a close encounter with exploding dragon eggs before guests return to the boarding area.
Another tapestry at the end shows guests on their dragon train in the sky with Toothless, Hiccup, and some babies.
Upon exiting, there are signs directing guests to the lockers and the exit.
