Construction crew members have been making steady progress on the renovation of the “Jaws” bathroom since the building first went under construction in February. Following our last construction update, all of the shingles on the roof of the bathroom building have been removed, revealing the white waterproofing material underneath.

The wood pieces of siding on the walls and peaks of the roof above several of the doorways have also now been removed. Like the roof, the spots that used to be covered by the wood planks have white waterproofing material lining the structure.

The shingle removal also includes the cupola’s small pointed roof in the middle of the building. The cupola has the last remaining sections of wood siding, though we will have to wait and see if they get removed later.

For comparison, above is an image of the same “Jaws” bathroom taken during our last construction update. The roof shingles were extremely worn and covered in old leaves from the nearby trees. The orange furring strips seen during that last update are also still present.

The “Jaws” bathroom is one of the last remaining elements from the former Amity Island area of the park, which was home to the “Jaws” attraction in Universal Studios Florida before it closed. Amity Island closed in 2012 to make space for the addition of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.

In other recent “Jaws” news, Universal Orlando Resort will soon be releasing a “Jaws” UOAP magnet as a Passholder Bonus Benefit and a new “Jaws” 50th anniversary merchandise collection in May 2025.
