The second-story walls of the former Tortilla Jo’s and Taqueria have been torn down to make way for new eateries at Downtown Disney District in Disneyland Resort.
Tortilla Jo’s Demolition
The last remaining walls on the top half of the building have been demolished since our last update, leaving just a framework. Crews have started tearing down the walls around the first floor, too.
Tortilla Jo’s closed permanently in March 2024. The Taqueria closed the following month. Demolition didn’t begin, however, until February 2025, beginning with the removal of awnings and other decorative elements.
All Tortilla Jo’s signage is gone. There are rough edges where walls and awnings used to be. Windows remain on the front of the building.
The pink walls have been torn away from this corner, leaving just the frame of the building. Through archways, more of the gutted interior is visible.
The bell tower has been stripped of theming.
The walls below the bell tower’s framework are being torn away. Scrim and scaffolding are on the back of the building, facing the nearby road.
The scrim and scaffolding hide the lower half of the building from view, but the exposed framework is visible. In the corners of the building, the elevator shaft and staircase remain.
On the side facing Disney’s backstage area, there is a work site in a parking lot blocked off by green scrim on fences. A pile of rubble is in front of one construction vehicle.
A tall crane is parked closer to the building to remove large elements.

Tortilla Jo’s and the Taqueria will be replaced by Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon, a classic steakhouse with a center bar, and Pearl’s Roadside BBQ, a quick-service eatery.
Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort has been undergoing a transformation for several years. The former ESPN Zone will become a series of shops. Within the past few months, Parkside Market, Disney Storyland Boutique, Disney Wonderful World of Sweets, D-Lander Shop, and Avengers Reserve have all opened.
