The planets surrounding the Astro Orbiter in Magic Kingdom have all returned to their usual positions as the refurbishment of the attraction nears completion.
Astro Orbiter Planets Return
The Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland has been undergoing a lengthy refurbishment process that saw the entire ride structure dismantled earlier this year. Since the crane returned to this side of Magic Kingdom in May, various parts of the ride have slowly been reappearing as the components are reassembled.
The reassembly process began with the return of the black interior mechanism for lifting the rocket ride vehicles. Shortly after that, the silver spire pointing up from the middle of the attraction was added back to its spot. In our latest update, the planets surrounding the sides of the attraction have also returned to their usual positions.
The largest planet is set into a silver circle within the large ring going around the circumference of the attraction. The planet is painted shades of orange and yellow with dark brown stripes.
Additional smaller planets are attached to the bottom of the orange orb via a yellow pole. The three extra planets hang off the bottom in a Y-shape to the right side of the Astro Orbiter structure.
The smaller planets include a red orb with orange highlights, a blue orb with yellow highlights, and a dark blue orb. All of the colors look the same as they did previously, though they appear much brighter since they have likely been cleaned and repainted.
The Astro Orbiter closed for its extended refurbishment on January 13. The attraction is expected to reopen sometime in the summer of 2025, though the current calendar shows the Astro Orbiter as unavailable through at least July 18.
