Marvel Not Hosting Large-Scale Panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025

According to new reports, Marvel is skipping its usual large-scale panel in Hall H at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con 2025.

Marvel Not Hosting Large Panel this Year

In past years, Marvel has become something of a staple at Comic-Con, with the event usually being the source of major announcements. During San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2024, for example, Marvel revealed some of the first extended footage from “Captain America: Brave New World,” let attendees watch some of the first footage for “Thunderbolts*,” shared the official title for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” and shocked the internet with the reveal of Robert Downey Jr. returning as Doctor Doom for “Avengers: Doomsday.”

However, visitors planning to attend this year’s convention may be disappointed to find out that Marvel is not hosting its usual event in 2025. According to new reports from Variety and Comicbook, Marvel is totally skipping its usual Hall H panel this year in favor of smaller promotions for upcoming films.

Variety notes some of this decision may be due to the cast of “Avengers: Doomsday” all being busy filming in London, meaning production would have to be suspended for any of over 24 confirmed characters to make an appearance. The Hollywood Reporter added a quote saying the decision was made because “it didn’t feel like the right [time].”

With Avengers: Doomsday pushing out to December 2026, Marvel now has another SDCC before the film’s theatrical release. The cast of Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production, and it didn’t feel like the right timing for a Hall H panel.

However, Marvel will still have a smaller SDCC 2025 presence. The company is said to still be planning smaller panels and events, including promotions for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” which is set to premiere on the Friday of the convention, a.k.a. July 25, 2025. The Hollywood Reporter added that inside sources claim “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will have a major convention center footprint with a full immersive booth.

This is also not the first time Marvel has chosen to skip out on a large-scale Comic-Con event. Marvel previously skipped much of 2023 due to the guild strikes, 2021 due to the pandemic, and years such as 2018 or 2015 simply due to a lack of major announcements.

The news may also be due to the recent shuffling of several Marvel film release dates. “Avengers: Doomsday” was originally scheduled to premiere on May 1, 2026, but has now been pushed back to December 18, 2026. Likewise, the date for its sequel, “Avengers: Secret Wars,” has been pushed from May 7, 2027, to December 17, 2027.
