In a new rumored update to the Universal Orlando Resort guest policies, smoking may soon be prohibited in all of the theme parks starting later this month.
Universal Orlando Resort Closes All Smoking Areas

In a sudden policy change, Universal Orlando Resort may soon be closing the remaining designated smoking areas at all of the parks in Orlando. Universal Team Members have reportedly already been informed of the new policies, with several of them sharing the news on social media.
Previously, Universal reduced the number of designated smoking areas in each park down to only one location per park. This change took place in 2022. The remaining locations included Gramercy Park in Universal Studios Florida, the lagoon in the Port of Entry at Islands of Adventure, and Wave Village (east) for Volcano Bay. Interestingly, Epic Universe also has a designated smoking location currently situated near the side of Stardust Racers by the portal to How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk.
According to the new reports, all of the Universal Orlando Resort designated smoking locations will be removed starting on May 15, 2025. This is said to include all of the theme parks including Epic Universe, though there is no word whether this includes the multiple smoking locations still present in Universal CityWalk. The rule change will reportedly also apply to e-cigarettes and vaporizers.
No changes have been made yet to the Universal Orlando Resort website policies or the Universal Resort apps. Universal has not yet made a public announcement confirming the policy change.
Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort parks all went smoking-free in 2019, with both resorts moving their designated smoking areas outside of the park entrances. It is possible Universal will take a similar approach and designate new smoking areas outside the park entrances.
