The tree and treehouse in Adventureland are now fully visible again. Earlier this week, scrim and scaffolding still covered the lower half of the tree, including the water wheel. It originally closed for work in November.

The treehouse partially reopened just before Christmas, but work was not complete. The crow’s nest reopened in February. Scrim and scaffolding remained around the tree until this month.

Though it has not always operated in the past, the water wheel is currently spinning. It powers a series of bamboo buckets on ropes, which pick up water to carry up into the treehouse.

There were no major changes to the treehouse. Various areas, including railings, were repainted. Netting was replaced.

Inspired by Disney’s 1960 film “Swiss Family Robinson,” based on the 1812 novel by Johann David Wyss, the Swiss Family Treehouse is an opening-day attraction at Magic Kingdom. It is six stories high with a total of 116 stairs. Versions of it also exist at Disneyland Park (as Adventureland Treehouse), Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, and Hong Kong Disneyland (as Tarzan’s Treehouse).
