Pavement Replacement Seemingly Complete Between Cosmic Ray’s and Fairytale Garden in Magic Kingdom

The pavement replacement project might be completed on the walkway between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom.

Pavement Replacement Work

Concrete work began in this area in February, with construction walls temporarily placed outside Fairytale Garden and later Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. In the past few days, crews have replaced the last few old gray slabs of pavement leading to the bridge. At this point, the new gray sections meet up with the existing red pavement on the other side, with no more of the older material left in the area.

The section of replacement pavement is less shiny than the pavement installed earlier during the project, although it’s all a darker color compared to the older pavement. Crews were pouring new concrete near the bridge earlier this week. They also chipped away a glob of concrete that was left on a nearby curb.

Though the new pavement still stands out against the old, the area is looking nicer than a few weeks ago. Most of the walkway between the bridge and Mad Tea Party has been replaced.

Elsewhere in Tomorrowland, crews are redoing the foundation of Cool Ship, which was removed from its spot near Tomorrowland Speedway. Disney removed the turnstile from Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover for an eventual automatic counter system. Astro Orbiter has been reconstructed and is now testing before reopening this summer.

In Fantasyland, the Sword in the Stone was recently refurbished. The floral “Tangled” restrooms mural was also refreshed with some new paint.
