My Disney Experience App Removes Rivers of America, Updates Walt Disney World Railroad Route to Illustrate ‘Shuttle Mode’

Walt Disney World updated its My Disney Experience mobile app last night to remove Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island from the Magic Kingdom map, as well as show the new modified route for the Walt Disney World Railroad.

For most users, when viewing Magic Kingdom on the My Disney Experience app, the area that once featured Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island now shows a blank area of trees.

In addition, a zoomed-out view of the entire park shows the new “shuttle mode” route for the Walt Disney World Railroad, which begins today, July 7, 2025. The train will not resume full operation until the previously announced Disney Villains land opens at Magic Kingdom.

WDWNT first noticed the removal overnight, around 1 a.m. ET.

Above is what the area used to look like prior to the removal from the app’s overhead map. Some users on iOS and Android phones may still see this as the update rolls out to all devices.

The former view also showed the previous full park route for the Railroad.

These changes come just one day after Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America, and the Liberty Square Riverboat permanently closed to make way for Piston Peak National Park, a new “Cars” themed area that will include two new attractions.
