New Aerial Views and More Roof Structures in Disney Lakeshore Lodge Construction Update

Thanks to @bioreconstruct on X and WDWNT reporters, we have another in-depth look at the current construction for the upcoming Disney Lakeshore Lodge.

Lakeshore Lodge Construction Update

The first photo provided by @bioreconstruct shows the expansive resort in relation to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Pioneer Hall. All three “wings” and the courtyard area continue to take shape as construction continues. It also appears that there is some early-stage dirt work in the middle of the courtyard, which could be related to the resort’s rumored feature pool.

As we approach Fort Wilderness via Bay Lake, several cranes are visible as work continues on the building’s tallest points. This section continues to see additional  framing for doors and future balconies. More sheathing and water barriers are also being added as work progresses.

The short building section to the right does not appear to have any windows, as the sheathing is being added without precut sections. Toward the middle of the furthest wing, what appear to be several larger balconies or walkways are also taking shape on the lower levels.

One crane holds up a large dumpster for crew members to throw away access material during guest room construction.

Other crew members work high and low, as this section of the building is furthest from completion.

Moving along, some glass windows are installed on this section of the wing nearest the shore. The crane on the Floatmaster barge appears to be constructing a new dock for the resort.

Photographer @bioreconstruct shared a better look at the dock construction. At the top left of this aerial view, the yellow crane is moving materials between posts leading out into the water.

Moving closer to the middle of Lakeshore Lodge, sliding glass doors have been added to several rooms. Orange framed netting has also been added between safety rails on this section. White signs are attached to the framed netting, so they are likely warning or safety measures.

Toward the bottom of this picture, a new steel structure has begun to take shape. This is potentially the future location of a lakefront bar or restaurant.

An aerial view shows how large the new steel structure is compared to the nearby construction equipment. It is located very close to the shore, but some of the trees would need to be removed to provide a true “lakefront” view.

Concept art released for the original Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge showcased a Princess and the Frog-themed restaurant and bar, but this design may be completely different now that Disney has shifted plans.

Moving closer to Clementine Beach, four A-frame cabin buildings still stand. These were also originally designed for Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, but have apparently remained a part of the new plan.

Here’s a look at concept art for the lakeside cabins also planned for the resort, as released at the 2019 D23 Expo. Six more of these cabins are taking shape on the opposite side of the resort.

This wing of the building also now has plastic wrapping and more scaffolding. Black siding is starting to be installed on the side facing Fort Wilderness Resort.

Roofing supports are also being added to the top level. These are potentially for the flat awnings seen in the old concept art (shown below).

Artist's concept of Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge features an outdoor area at a resort, with people walking under a large, wooden, pavilion-like structure surrounded by greenery and multi-story buildings in the background.

The awnings in the concept art extend past the facade of the the building, so the current steel structures may only be a starting point.

What is likely the elevator shaft for this section of the building is also now completely cased in by cement.

Disney demolished their old water parkRiver Country, to make space for the new resort. Construction was put on hold in 2020, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Construction resumed late last year before the official announcement of Disney Lakeshore Lodge, a new DVC resort set to open in 2027. Like Reflections, it will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” No new concept art has been specifically shared for Lakeshore Lodge, but so far the construction progress greatly resembles the old art for Reflections.
