Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure closed on August 18, 2025 for an extended refurbishment. It now appears that part of that refurbishment includes new pavement near several areas of the track.
Radiator Springs Racers Refurbishment

Upon entering Cars Land, construction work was immediately noticeable, as scaffolding has been built behind the Radiator Springs Courthouse. The track for Radiator Springs Racers goes just behind this building.

Signage has also been put up in the area to warn guests of the closure and refurbishment. A stop sign has been placed near the entrance walkway reading “Radiator Springs Racers is undergoing refurbishment. Please enjoy other Cars Land attractions.”

Other “road work” signs have been added to the fencing panels, including another stop sign, a yellow detour sign, and an orange “Road Work Ahead.”

It also appears that part of the attraction’s refurbishment is continuing to repave the “road” by the ride track. Fresh pavement can be seen above in one of the track’s banking curves. The fresh pavement appears to be completed in sections at a time, as previous areas have been redone in past refurbishments. For example, areas of the track had the orange layer below the pavement visible as they were being redone in 2023.

Lots of construction materials, including additional scaffolding and wood pieces, are laying alongside the track for future use.
Per the Disneyland website and the attraction’s operating schedule, Radiator Springs Racers will reopen on September 26, a little over a month after it closed on August 18. According to @ScottGustin on X, the work includes track resurfacing, lighting enhancements, and audio/visual upgrades.
