A few days ago, Universal teased a Fast & Furious-related announcement. Now we know Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is the new roller-coaster under construction at the theme park. The announcement states it will open in 2027.

Fast & Furious Coaster Replacing Rip Ride Rockit, Supercharged Closing Permanently

The first version of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will open at Universal Studios Hollywood this year. It consists of 4,100 feet of track, sound reduction technology, and 360-degree rotation to create the sensation of drifting.

Differences in land mean the Florida version of Hollywood Drift won’t be identical to the California version — it’s on a mountainside in California but will be in a long flat space in Florida. It will likely have the same theming and drifting effects, though.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit closed in August 2025 and was quickly demolished. Signs and flyers on construction walls teased potential replacements, including Fast & Furious. Even before Universal announced Rip Ride Rockit’s closure, there were rumors of a multi-launch coaster by Intamin replacing the ride.

Fast & Furious: Supercharged Closing

Amidst a cascade of intense explosions, a thrill-seeker leaps from a massive vehicle. Nearby, the iconic Universal Studios-themed bus screeches to a halt as surprised onlookers witness this heart-pounding Fast & Furious - Supercharged moment unfold.

The infamously bad Fast & Furious: Supercharged has survived long-term closures and rumors of a permanent closure. With the coaster coming soon, Supercharged will finally close for good in 2027.

The original Supercharged was part of the Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood. For the standalone Florida version, it received two pre-shows and extra video of Fast & Furious characters. But removed from the context of the tram tour, it was poorly received.

The Hollywood version of Supercharged closed permanently last year.
