Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Construction Adds Sound Shield and Netting Supports

On a recent visit to Universal Studios Hollywood, we noticed a few changes on the upcoming Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster.

In our last report covering ongoing construction on the new Fast & Furious coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood, we noted that construction on the ride entrance appeared to be complete.

On a more recent revisit, we noticed additional construction on and around the coaster track itself.

Spanning a section of track that crosses over the Universal Upper/Lower Lot escalators, we can see white piping that appears to form the structural support for a sound shielding element of the coaster.

Along the edges of the walkway underneath and adjacent to the track at this turn, more white piping can be seen that appears to be supports for netting intended to catch any flying displaced collateral from riders.

Moving down the escalators gives us a wider view of the track construction thus far, along with the aforementioned shielding and netting updates.

Another sound shield structure can be seen in the distance, covering one of the coaster’s loops.

Further down into the lower lot, we noticed these newer walls obscuring some more development along the track. Interestingly, there appear to be some added foliage graphics along the permanent walls in an effort to help minimize the visual impact/draw for guests passing through the development area.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will open later this year. We spotted test dummies on the coaster back in October 2025, which is also when the coaster was first seen testing. The coaster has 4,100 feet of track, sound reduction technology, and 360-degree rotation to create the sensation of drifting. Watch the teaser video below:
