Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession Returns for Lunar New Year 2026

The 2026 Lunar New Year Celebration has begun at Disney California Adventure, and with it returns Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession! As this year is the Year of the Horse, Horace Horsecollar takes a starring role in the parade.

Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession 2026

This 20-minute procession travels from Hollywood Land to Paradise Gardens. Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession fills the street with music, exquisite costumes, and traditional dances by Asian performing troupes. Mulan and Mushu lead the way. It can be enjoyed multiple times throughout the day during the Lunar New Year celebration, which runs from January 23 to February 22, 2026.

Throughout the procession, a narrator describes the connection between Mulan, each passing unit of performers, and the Lunar New Year. First, the banner carriers kick the parade off, followed by a pair of dancers carrying moonflowers.

Behind them is a team of dragon dancers, who carry a large red and gold dragon puppet above their heads.

Then, a team of dancers dressed in shades of blue and pink perform with rainbow-colored scarves.

Mulan and Mushu are the stars of the show with the Lunar New Year float. There are also two drummers in the middle of the float.

Then, Chip ‘n’ Dale follow behind. Chip is on the float dressed as a Chinese lion, while Dale, dressed as a dragon, follows behind with a lantern. Chip and Dale swap positions after every performance of the processional, so Dale will have his time on the float too.

The trike that hasn’t been used since 2023 has returned this year, and it carries Horace Horsecollar to represent the Year of the Horse.

Behind Horace is a martial art team dressed in black carrying swords. They are followed by dancers clad in white and red gowns, twirling red and white fans.

The final unit is a group of dancers with parasols, ready to meet the matchmaker, along with another pair of dancers carrying moonflowers.

The parade concludes with two dancers waving red flags and the ending banner.
