Crews have cleared shrubbery and trees from the lawn of The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom. The work may be related to recent theming-related permits Disney filed for the ride.
Haunted Mansion Lawn

About two thirds of The Haunted Mansion’s lawn is now brown. This area was previously filled with shrubs, as well as a few small trees. A strip of green grass remains at the front of the lawn, closest to the queue.
An aerial photo of The Haunted Mansion by bioreconstruct on X gives a good view of the empty lawn. Trees were also recently removed from a large patch of land backstage next to the mansion for construction of the Cars-inspired Piston Peak National Park.
There are construction walls and scrim lining the mansion’s queue, but the lawn clearing appears to be for a separate project.

Above is a picture of what The Haunted Mansion’s lawn usually looks like. The removal of the plants may mean scaffolding will be added to the building soon. The recent permits are for “General Construction” and to “Install set elements.”
Disney recently installed scaffolding in the graveyard at the end of the mansion’s queue.
