According to The Desert Sun, public records indicate several dozen homes have been built and about 30 have sold. The community has approval to build just over 1,900 homes and condos, with the first phase featuring about 300.

The homes have sold to individual buyers or trusts for between $1 million and over $4 million. Most of the homebuyers are from southern California. Disney told The Desert Sun that more people are in the process of buying homes but they did not say how many.

“As a multi-year community planned for roughly 1,900 homes, Cotino is seeing positive momentum as our first phase progresses,” said Claire Bilby, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Signature Experiences Emerging Businesses. “The opening of the Artisan Club and the arrival of our first residents are offering an early glimpse of the Cotino lifestyle, with more exciting milestones ahead, including Cotino Bay Beach, Dining, and Shops opening later this year.”

The Artisan Club offers various amenities with a membership, including the Incredibles 2-inspired Parr House gathering space and wellness programming.

The Desert Sun spoke to real estate agents of southern California’s The Bianco Group, who said most of the buyers are from out of town looking for a second home in the desert.

“For the Cotino community, it’s the Disney magic that kind of brings people into that community in general,” said The Bianco Group founder James Bianco. “But I think with the lowering of interest rates, it’s definitely sparked more interest.”

Bianco added, “I’ve never seen a community this beautiful and (with) these kinds of amenities like Cotino.”

A second Storyliving By Disney community named Asteria is under construction in Pittsboro, North Carolina.
