Work is moving rapidly on the repainting of Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom, although the progress is definitely not pretty. To help with the process, the surrounding moat is almost completely drained so crews can get closer to certain areas of the castle.
Cinderella Castle Repainting

More gray paint has appeared on Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, as the project of restoring it to its classic gray color scheme continues.

Around the rear right side, the castle turrets continue to receive new paint with several of the bracket details receiving light gray pain along with the trim above.

Several more pieces in this area have also been painted.

We did notice that some of the painting is dripping down onto the bricks of the castle, as shown above.

Moving over to the northeast corner of the castle, this section is now almost completely gray.

The painting also seems to be creating toward the left side of the castle with only a small section of turret left pink in the photo to the right.
Cinderella Castle Moat Draining

Draining began on Wednesday morning, February 4, and continued rapidly for the past few days. The only water left is the small amount that is leftover from the drain leaving dirt and debris washed up on the concrete banks of the moat.

Among the debris are lost guest souvenirs like bubble wands and Magic Bands. We also spotted a pair of rogue 3D glasses in the muck.

Disney announced the castle repainting project in the summer of 2025. The icon received its current color scheme in 2020/2021 for the park’s 50th anniversary. Because of the castle painting, Happily Ever After has been modified, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire is performing only in the afternoons and without pyrotechnics, and Let the Magic Begin is only music. There may be more changes as the painting progresses.
