Grizzly River Run’s ongoing refurbishment continues apace at Disney California Adventure, as new elements have been painted and installed.
New Logs Installed

We’ve already seen signs of paintwork on the ride’s exterior, but we got to see several of the new logs, which act as ride barriers, inside the ride receiving fresh coats of paint.

In our last update, these logs were nothing but mesh tubes. The “logs” are supported by short posts so that when the flume is full of water, they appear to be floating or sitting on the riverbank.

Meanwhile, the ongoing saga of the disappearing and reappearing scrim on the mountain’s backside continues. After being briefly removed to reveal the scaffolding and rockwork, the scrim has been reinstalled, and now there’s considerably more of it.

The beige scrim walls hide much of the rock facade from view. The green walls below are still currently lining the walkway. Concept art for the ride was recently added to these walls, most likely to commemorate California Adventure’s 25th anniversary.

Grizzly River Run closed in January for its normal annual refurbishment, but we do not yet have a reopening date. A look at the Disneyland Resort calendar shows the ride still being closed on April 8, which is as far out as the calendar currently goes. This is a more extensive refurbishment period than in previous years.
