Crews have begun work on a new perimeter fence for Disney California Adventure that will encompass the Coco attraction coming to Pixar Pier. Construction of the Coco attraction began about a month ago, with crews mostly clearing the land at the back of Disney California Adventure until now.
Disney California Adventure Fence Construction
The Disney California Adventure side of Disneyland Drive is lined with temporary fencing covered by green scrim. Behind that are now tall poles — the beginnings of the new fence. Their installation follows a permit Disney filed in December for a new 727-foot-long and 16-foot-high fence with a gate.
The line of poles runs from a curved sidewalk that was once part of a Mickey shape, almost to the corner of Disneyland Drive and W Katella Ave. In the aerial image below, we’ve put a red box where the construction zone is located.
Part of the sidewalk has been demolished on the Disney California Adventure side of Disneyland Dr. Shrubbery has also been removed, although trees remain for now, helping block views of construction until the fence is completed.
Once the fence is done, crews can start construction of the ride itself. The Coco ride entrance will be between Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier.
Coco Ride

Disney hasn’t announced much about the Coco ride, just that guests will follow Miguel into the Land of the Dead, hear some of the movie’s iconic music, and see skeletal Audio-Animatronics characters. The concept art indicates it will be a boat ride.
