Fittingly shot in black and white, the Spider-Noir trailer shows Cage in the titular role. In it, Spider-Noir or Ben Reilly is struggling to suppress his innermost thoughts and impulses. Reilly, who works as a private investigator, is navigating his personal life and that of his masked persona.

At the time of the 2024 announcement, then-Amazon MGM Studios head of TV Vernon Sanders said, “Expanding the Marvel universe with ‘Noir’ is a uniquely special opportunity and we are honored to bring this series to our global Prime Video customers. The extremely talented Nicolas Cage is an ideal choice for our new superhero and the accomplished producing team with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal, and the incredible team at Sony is dedicated to expanding this franchise in the most authentic way.”
This alternate version of Peter Parker was first introduced in his own comic book series in 2009 as part of the Marvel Noir universe. Cage voiced Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018). This will be Cage’s first regular TV role after over four decades of acclaimed film work.
