Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom is slowly going gray with paint. Almost every day, a little bit of the castle’s pink hue and gold trims disappear as its classic color scheme is restored.
Cinderella Castle Repainting

The castle’s pale pink, royal blue, gold, and gray color scheme was added for the park’s 50th anniversary in 2021. Crews began repainting it in late January, focused on turning the pink top half light gray. More gray paint is now visible on the front of the castle.

We saw a crew member working near the clock, on the other side from where we saw crew members on Wednesday. To the right is some castle trim that has been painted a very light gray. This is replacing the metallic gold trim.

More tower walls have turned gray. Crews have been largely repainting the back of the castle, but now the gray has reached the fronts of the towers.

Some gold will remain, just like the castle’s original look. Right now, the circles in railings on the towers remain gold.

Painting began on the east side of the castle, facing Tomorrowland. From this angle it’s clear that the second tallest tower is now almost completely gray, including a rampart and rectangular wall beneath it.

The biggest difference is on the back of the castle. A large portion of the pink walls were painted gray overnight. Crews have also started painting the trim around the windows of Cinderella’s Royal Table.

Crews have yet to start on the pink around the windows, which is in much smaller sections and will take more detailed work.

The gray has spread to the west side of the castle facing Liberty Square. The base of one tower is now partially gray. The trim of two towers on the lower half of the castle has been mostly painted over.

The bottom half of the castle was previously a different shade of gray and the roofs were a lighter blue. They are expected to be repainted, too. The moat has been drained to allow crew members to get closer to the bottom of the castle.

For reference, pictured above is the castle in 2019 with its classic color scheme, the castle in 2021 after it was painted for the 50th anniversary, and concept art for the current repaint.
