There is now red scrim on the scaffolding outside the former Star Wars Launch Bay, soon-to-be The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The red scrim doesn’t completely cover the scaffolding in front of the facade, but it could mean construction will be ramping up in this area. Star Wars Launch Bay signage was removed months ago, but the facade has not been repainted. It will also have a larger-than-life sorcerer hat added, as seen in the concept art below.

The design is based on the real Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California. The courtyard is being transformed into the Walt Disney Studios lot, including more green spaces. Trees were recently planted.

We also noticed this railing along the edge of the soundstage housing The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure was painted brown. It was previously gray. The building itself was repainted a few weeks ago.

Animation Courtyard is set to reopen this summer with The Magic of Disney Animation and a new Disney Jr. show.
