Themed scrim depicting The Haunted Mansion has been installed outside the Magic Kingdom ride, but it does not completely replace the plain green scrim.
The Haunted Mansion Themed Scrim

As of this past weekend, the actual mansion was almost completely blocked from view by scrim and scaffolding. Just one section of themed scrim has been installed in the center. Though it’s not the prettiest photo op, it does provide something nicer to look at than just solid green fabric.

In January, Disney filed two permits for construction at The Haunted Mansion. Crews cleared the mansion’s lawn of shrubs and trees. Soon after, crews began installing scaffolding as an extension of construction work in the queue’s graveyard.

The construction is reportedly for a slight extension of The Haunted Mansion’s facade. The update may be tangentially related to nearby work on the new Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park, which replaces Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. With construction of the new area, there will be a new walkway directly between The Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

In the Piston Peak National Park concept art above, The Haunted Mansion is just out of sight in the lower right corner.
The Haunted Mansion remains open and operational. Watch our 4K ride POV video below.
