New aerial photos from bioreconstruct reveal the removal of the DINOSAUR marquee, first signs of the Indiana Jones ride exterior, additional theming models, and more in Tropical Americas in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Tropical Americas Update

The front exterior of the former DINOSAUR attraction is now completely void of theming due to the removal of the marquee featuring the Carnotaurus and meteors. While previously piles of rubble and metal indicated that some elements from the ride itself were being removed, it looks like a large portion of the current construction is on the exterior.

The new Indiana Jones ride being built will be set within a Maya temple, and concrete forms have been placed in front of the attraction to begin its transformation. Based on the forms, it looks like the facade will extend to roughly the location of the reflection pools and planters that once surrounded Aladar.
The tent cover of the Restaurantosaurus bar building has been completely removed, revealing its glass roof. Portions of the exterior have also been removed in preparation for Restaurantosaurus to be reimagined as a hacienda.
The former bathrooms and souvenir shop for DinoLand are also set to be reused in Tropical Americas. Currently, both seem to be relatively untouched, although several construction vehicles, equipment, and building supplies surround the location.
Just yesterday, we reported that concrete had been poured for the land’s carousel over the previously placed rebar, making a flat base for the future ride.

The concrete circle will be the floor of the carousel. It will consist of wood-carved Disney animals like Kevin from Up.
Additional framing and concrete work have gone up around the future entrance area of the ride.
Eventually, the show building will resemble Casita. It was recently “topped off,” a tradition that signifies that vertical construction has reached its highest point. Now that it has reached its highest point, it appears that roofing is being installed above the steel beams and metal protective layers.
Another sign of forward progress is this aerial look at models and theming in progress for Tropical Americas. The models are located near the Imagineering project offices at Animal Kingdom.

The models serve as examples of color and texture for facades and theming elements. Imagineering teams will study these for weathering and how they look in all forms of lighting. The models will also be referenced for how to sculpt and paint on site once theming begins.
Some larger structures also seem to be under construction near the Imagineering offices. The structures look to be heavily themed using some of the materials from the models above. We do not know if these will be moved into permanent positions within the land or if they are just tests.
