Firetruck and Ambulance at Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Possibly for First Responder Testing

On Wednesday, March 12, at Universal Studios Hollywood, we saw a firetruck and ambulances parked on a backstage road near Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. Though we can’t be sure, it appeared the first responders were performing some kind of test or training.

The vehicles were lined up under the coaster tracks alongside some construction equipment. Though some of the vehicles’ flashing lights were on, we saw no signs of an actual emergency.

One of the ambulances and the firetruck drove up and down the street while we were watching.

Because Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is a brand-new coaster that crosses over backstage roads, this testing may have been necessary to ensure first responders know how to reach various parts of the coaster as well as other affected areas during an actual emergency.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift has been testing with ride vehicles. The vehicles, based on famous cars from the Fast & Furious franchise, spin to create a drifting effect. Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is set to open this summer.

A second version is under construction at Universal Studios Florida.
