Pixar’s Hoppers continues to hold steady as a dam: it stays on top of the box office in its second weekend, while its global take has already made it one of the most successful films of 2026.
‘Hoppers’ #1 in Second Weekend

Hoppers opened in theaters on March 6, 2026, and premiered at #1, earning the best opening for a Pixar original film (as well as an original animated movie in general) since Coco (2017). Its second weekend take of $28.5M — for total earnings of $74.5M — keeps it on top of the US box office as Spring Break begins.

However, Hoppers is also performing extremely well globally. It has so far earned $164.7M across the worldwide box office, making Hoppers both one of the year’s top three films globally and the highest-grossing global animated release of 2026 (to date). While it won’t reach anywhere near the global juggernaut levels of Zootopia 2, the sustained worldwide performance is notable for the original flick.

Hoppers centers on Mabel Tanaka, a teenage environmental activist who “hops” her consciousness into a robotic beaver to try to stop an industrial development. The film is certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 94% Tomatometer (critic) score and a matching 94% Popcornometer (audience) score.
