The main entrance of the former Star Wars Launch Bay building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been painted as it is transformed into The Magic of Disney Animation.

The two large columns and wall between them have been painted a solid cream color. They were previously gray with Star Wars-inspired designs. The bright color makes the glass block window between the columns stand out more.

An element below the window is covered by a small piece of scrim. Below that is a strip of exposed interior wall leftover from the removal of Star Wars Launch Bay signage.

For reference, below is what the Star Wars Launch Bay entrance looked like.

Beyond the columns, the building remains gray with blue trim. But these walls will also be painted.

The new cream color reflects concept art for The Magic of Disney Animation, below.

According to concept art, the rest of the building will also be cream with red and reddish-brown detailing. A giant sorcerer’s hat will also go up on the entrance marquee, inspired by the real Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California.

The columns have been part of the building since the opening of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The original version of The Magic of Disney Animation had a Sorcerer Mickey statue on the marquee, as seen below.

The new version of The Magic of Disney Animation open this summer. The actual courtyard and neighboring Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! will open on May 26.

The courtyard will become The Walt Disney Studios with new grass spaces. Characters will appear outside. The Magic of Disney Animation will also include six new meet and greets, an art class hosted by Olaf (instead of live artists), and a playground inspired by Mary Blair’s Alice in Wonderland concept art.
