Tomorrowland Rocks Fully Repainted at Magic Kingdom After Three-Year Process

After nearly three years of start-and-stop painting, the futuristic rocks in Walt Disney World’s Tomorrowland have been completely repainted.

The Tomorrowland rocks were previously repainted in 2016, when their original reddish-brown shade was replaced with a more modern, metallic blue-gray finish.

They started the process again but stalled back in 2023. The project began with the entryway rocks framing the bridge, but after these were finished, Disney never repainted the other rocks, leaving them a faded, dull gray.

We noticed crews back at work repainting the rocks in early February 2026, after a pause of nearly two-and-a-half years. After a month of regular work, the rocks have been fully blue.

The project was able to be picked back up because the Magic Kingdom moat was drained to accommodate the repainting Cinderella Castle, making it easier to also reach the Tomorrowland rocks.

The rocks on the south side of the bridge aren’t complete. They still need some detail work. The rocks on the north side are much shinier and have some shades of brown.
