Nearly three years after being announced, the new Tower of Terror covered waiting area is opening this month at Disneyland Paris.
Tower of Terror Patio at Disneyland Paris

The patio for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror was announced in 2023, with more details shared last year. It will open on Monday, March 23, 2026.
The themed space is designed to enrich the story of The Hollywood Tower Hotel as well as protect guests from the rain and heat. It joins other sheltered areas Walt Disney Imagineering Paris has been working on for the past few years.
Sébastien Dhainaut, Lead Stage Design at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, envisioned transforming this covered queue into a former living space of the hotel: “We named this area The Patio, once the hotel’s terrace. It was a place where the glamorous clientele of the era would gather for cocktails, relax on sun loungers, take a dip in the pool, or enjoy music… However, this space fell into disrepair following the tragic events that struck The Hollywood Tower Hotel, and attentive guests will be able to uncover clues about the former splendour of The Patio and what happened on the night of 31 October 1939.”

The design draws inspiration from the Pueblo Deco architecture of the Tower of Terror. It features an oak timber frame and bronze-finish details with The Hollywood Tower Hotel logo. The flooring has been redesigned with natural stone, terracotta tiling and mosaic details. The plasterwork is slightly aged and cracked, the guttering has a bronze effect, the warm-toned roof tiles are typical of the Spanish Revival style, and onyx lanterns are suspended from the ceiling — all carefully considered to ensure harmony with the existing building.
Part of the queue runs alongside the former swimming pool, now drained and filled with concrete. But its original outline is visible through a mosaic pool border with faded depth markings and a “NO DIVING” warning. New plant species, including three large palm trees, have been added around the pool to enhance the Californian atmosphere.

Eerie details include overturned chairs entwined with ivy, a spilled cocktail on a table, and a broken statue of the god Pan. His upper half has fallen to the ground. There are “unsettling” lighting effects suggesting unseen presences.

A weathered bronze-effect sign for The Patio and posters advertising the hotel’s once lively ambience are on the walls. These include ads for an upcoming cocktail party that never took place.
“This attraction has a richly developed universe, so it was essential for us not only to respect its theme, but also to play with its codes to bring a new dimension to it, with numerous details that we hope will delight the most observant guests,” said Sébastien Dhainaut.
A new Tower of Terror gift shop opened earlier this year.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is part of Walt Disney Studios Park, which has been undergoing a years-long reimagining, culminating in the opening of World of Frozen on March 29. The park will be renamed that same day to Disney Adventure World.
