Disney Lakeshore Lodge still needs a lot more work before it’s ready to open in 2027. Work continues on the A-frame cabins, lazy river area, and more.

A-Frame Cabins

Let’s start with the A-frame cabins that are closest to the dock at the Fort Wilderness campgrounds. Though they do not have roofing like some of the other cabins on property, there is still progress being made on the underlayment. The one on the very end does not have this underlayment yet.

There are steel beam supports holding the cabins up, in gray, black, and brown tones. There will be skylights in the cabins, though some cabins do not have those cut out yet. Crews were actively working in this area during our visit on March 13, 2026.

Other A-frame cabins are still in various stages of roofing, from wood underlayment to the finished steel.

Bus Stop

The bus stop will be located near the main building of the resort. Right now, the area is surrounded by fencing and green scrim. However, we can see a reddish-brown wooden overhang. We are unsure if this is a temporary structure or will stick around for the completion of the bus stop. These have also been spotted in the parking lot as well.

We also spotted a crew member (or maybe two) working in this area.

Lazy River

While we don’t see any work necessarily taking place for the lazy river, there are yellow rails on the lazy river side of the building. It’s a bit hard to see behind the trees, but they are there. We believe this area may serve as a pool bar restaurant.

Also, please take a moment to take in this tree with dozens of shoes tied to the branches, presumably a tradition for boat captains. That is all.

Porte Cochere

While the porte cochere looks mostly the same as our last update, we did notice the very front piece of steel has now been covered. Scaffolding remains on the buildings next to it.

Other Areas

The main building is still in various stages of progress. Some areas are primed, while other areas are still exposed.

We saw crews actively working in various places, including on the balconies of the rooms. Boom lifts are in place.

Some portions of the main building have been painted white, with plastic covering the windows. Others are waiting to be painted.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is being built next to Fort Wilderness Resort on the former River Country site, across the water from the abandoned Discovery Island in Bay Lake. The Disney Vacation Club resort, set to open in 2027, will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.”
